Toilet Vastu: Where It Belongs, and the Fix When It Doesn’t

Toilet Vastu: where it belongs, and the fix when it does not

A toilet is the one room no amount of furniture moving will relocate, and in a modern house it is usually wherever the soil stack happened to be. That is why the toilet turns up in so many reports, and why the correction for it was designed to be done in an afternoon.

The three zones made for a toilet

Zone Governs Why it fits
East-south-east Churning, overthinking and analysis The zone of churning also suits the washing machine
South-south-west Disposal and weight release The natural place for whatever is being let go
West-north-west Detox, mental relief and letting go Suits the toilet, the washing machine and the broom

The zones to keep it out of

North, north-north-east, north-east, east-north-east, east, south-east, south-west, west, and the centre of the house.

The worst of these is the north-east, the most sensitive zone in the plan. It is covered on its own in the north-east zone.

The south-south-east, south, west-south-west, north-west and north-north-west are neither good nor bad for a toilet.

The correction

Lay a 3-inch tape, or a metal strip, on the floor on three sides of the toilet seat, in the colour of the zone the toilet stands in.

Toilet in Tape colour Or a strip of
North, north-east Blue Aluminium
East Green Brass
South-east Red or orange Copper
South-west Yellow Brass
West White Stainless steel
The centre Keep the Brahmasthan open and light, and mark its edge with yellow tape or brass wire

Tape is the quick version and can be renewed when it wears. A metal strip set into the floor is the permanent one, and suits a bathroom that is being retiled anyway.

Keeping the room right

Keep the door closed and the lid down. A toilet is the room of release; the door keeps that release in the room.

Keep it dry and ventilated. A damp bathroom spreads into the walls, and in Vastu as in building surveying, damp is the first thing to fix.

Nothing stored on the cistern. Towels, spare rolls and cleaning bottles go in a cupboard, not on display.

Where this sits in the whole picture

The toilet is the clearest example of the practice's approach: the building stays as it is, and what is wrong is marked and corrected where it stands. The same method is applied to every fixed feature in Vastu remedies without demolition.
